Memorial Day Weekend is the perfect time to celebrate all of the men and women who have served in the United States military. It is also a good time to spend some quality time with those you love at some of the many events that happen in the area.
In the Dallas, Texas area, the first annual Hilton Anatole Food, Wine, and Jazz festival is going on from Friday, May 23rd to Sunday, May 25th. The three-day festival will feature live music from the Jazz trio, Fingerprints, and Jazz pianist, Scott Bucklin. There will domestic and international wines to sample and purchase. The wine will be accompanied by gourmet food cooked by Anatole’s chefs. The weekend event starts on Friday night with a welcome reception in Anatole Park. Saturday is a full day of events, all centered on wine, from tastings to food paring courses. Sunday ends the weekend with a Champagne Brunch. Tickets for the festival can be bought for separate activities or in packages for the whole weekend.
If you are looking for a more family friendly event in the Dallas area, check out Bowling for Vets on Sunday, May 25th. The event is at Bowl and Barrel bowling alley from 1 pm to 3 pm and supports disabled veterans. Tickets are $35 and include bowling for the entire event and free food and non-alcoholic beverages. There are also drink specials for alcoholic beverages. Bring a new, unused coat for a veteran and receive a raffle ticket to be entered to win a prize.
