Tips on How to Perform a Simple Maintenance Checkup on Each Headlight

Common sense shows driving safely at night requires that each headlight works properly.  Even though you may have good auto insurance coverage courtesy of a Mike Leonard Insurance policy, you need to make sure your car is in good working order. A few simple tips can help you maintain your own headlights without having to pay large sums of money for general maintenance services.

Invest in a simple headlight restoration kit. You will need the kit because your headlights are going to get dirty from time to time. Look at each headlight. If the headlight lens looks cloudy, you need to clean and restore it back to its original clarity.

Perform a simple test to find out if you need to replace the bulb on either headlight. Park your vehicle a few feet from a wall. Turn on each headlight and check to see of the light looks white. If the light looks extremely dim, you may need to buy new bulbs.

If one headlight looks white, but the other headlight looks dim, replace both bulbs. Otherwise, you will drive your car with great visibility from one headlight and less than perfect visibility from the other headlight.
