It’s officially flu season! Use these tips for treating and preventing illness.
The holiday season is underway, but this will definitely not be the most wonderful time of the year for you if you come down with the flu! Does that mean you have to go through this time of year with your fingers crossed? No! There are proactive steps you can take to prevent the flu, and ways you can effectively treat it, to stay as healthy as possible this flu season.
Avoid It
You need to give your body the right resources to fight off the flu, so that means getting enough sleep (7+ hours for adults), drinking plenty of water (at least half your body weight in ounces), and making healthy food choices. Avoid contact with people who have the flu, and wash your hands at every chance you get. At the end of the day, the best thing you can do to avoid getting sick is simple: get a flu shot now.
Treat It
If you do get sick, stay at home! You might feel bad for missing work, but your company is much better off losing you for a few days than losing their entire workforce throughout flu season. Take a pain reliever to lower your fever, drink lots of fluids, and sleep as much as possible. If you feel unbearably ill, head to the doctor for an antiviral drug.
