Homeowners, get your house ready for the fall season with these home maintenance tips.
Can you believe fall is already in full swing? As September comes to a close, it’s time to start thinking about the chillier temperatures ahead – and preparing your home for them.
To make it easier to take care of your home in time for winter, here are a few of the best fall home maintenance tips!
- Gut Gutters: When winter comes, it brings with it increased precipitation. You want that to be able to drain off your roof quickly and easily, preventing leaks and water damage, and that becomes possible if your gutters are clean. Take the time to remove any debris in your gutters and downspouts, and make sure downspouts are facing away from your foundation.
- Fine-Tune the Flume: If you’re planning to use your fireplace during the colder seasons, have a professional come out to inspect it. Make sure you have a good fireplace screen and that any flammable materials—including rugs—are moved away from the fireplace before you light it.
- Spruce Up Seals: When the mercury drops, you will want to keep warm air in and cold air out. Take the time to check the seals around your windows and doors. It’s a good idea to do this with your caulking gun in-hand, in case you need to touch up any areas.
